Australian beef exports to Japan are heading the recovery in the beef market.

 

Japan ‘snapback’ tariff officially endorsed
Japanese Parliament has officially passed legislation to increase tariffs on imported beef by almost 12 per cent, to come into effect from August the first.

 

Vaile slams Tokyo on beef  
Japan's decision to sharply lift its beef import tariffs was an "unwarranted and unjustifiable" move that would hurt Australian beef producers, Trade Minister Mark Vaile said at the weekend.

EU starts WTO move against Australia food imports
BRUSSELS, March 31 (Reuters) - The European Union has decided to launch a challenge at the World Trade Organization (WTO) over Australia's quarantine system for imports of agricultural products, the EU Commission said on Monday. "Australia has built a quarantine system which is highly efficient at blocking the imports of agricultural products into this country," the Commission, the EU's executive arm, said in a statement.
