Japan asks 26 beef suppliers for origin certificate
Japan has asked the United States and 25 other beef-exporting nations to provide country-of-origin certificates for beef shipments to help prevent the spread of mad cow disease, government officials said on Tuesday.

Zoellick announced today that the United States is filing a WTO case against Mexico in connection with Mexico's antidumping orders on U.S. beef and white long grain rice. The consultations will also cover aspects of Mexico's recently amended antidumping and countervailing duty laws. Today's actions begin a 60-day consultation period, which is required in WTO disputes.

 

CANADA/USA: No timetable yet for easing of beef ban - USDA
US officials have yet to reply to Canada's request for an easing of the current temporary ban on Canadian beef and cattle, and do not have a clear timetable for a decision.
