USMEF Reports On U.S. Pork Opportunities In India

USMEF Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific Joel Haggard, USMEF ASEAN Director Eric Choon and USMEF Regional Director, Mexico and the Dominican Republic Chad Russell traveled to India in February to make preliminary observations about pork products, production, marketing and consumption. The group also assessed the current pork import market, and constraints to expanding U.S. pork exports to India.

The group met with meat importers, pork processors and consumers in Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi. They also met with government officials to better understand current import policies and regulations which influence the domestic pork market. The group created a report on India’s Pork Industry and Opportunities for U.S. Products and supplementary annexes to provide a summary of their observations.
