Philippines Announces 2007 Minimum Access Volume For Pork Imports

The Philippines Department of Agriculture has announced the 2007 Minimum Access Volume (MAV) for fresh, chilled and frozen pork imports. Total volume is 54,210 metric tons (mt), with 11,236 mt allocated and 42,974 mt available on a first-come first-served basis.

The current tariff for fresh/chilled or frozen pork is 30 percent. Processed products, such as salted in brine, dried or smoked, are not included in the quota and have a 40 percent duty.

Through November 2006, the United States exported 6,474 mt of pork and pork variety meat valued at $10.9 million.
