EU/USA: EU to impose ban on poultry from three US states

A ban on the import of poultry meat and products and live chickens, hatching eggs and day-old chicks from the US into the European Union will be imposed on products from Nevada and Arizona, as well as California, the EU Council of Ministers has decided.

 

Puerto Rico firm recalls pork products for listeria
Ponce, P.R.-based J.M. Packing, doing business as Cash & Carry Inc., is voluntarily recalling about 490 pounds of cooked pork shoulder that may be contaminated with listeria, according to USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

President Bush To Propose Record-Level $3.9 Billion For Conservation Programs
Veneman Releases Proposed Rules for Environmental Quality Incentives Program
Secretary Veneman announced that President Bush will propose a record $3.9 billion, an increase of $582 million over the FY 2003 level, for conservation programs to strengthen environmental stewardship on the nation’s farmlands. During an address to cattle producers and ranchers at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association annual convention, the Secretary also announced the release of proposed rules for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program
