AgTC: Port Trucking Ban on Owner Operators Put on Ice
On Friday (March 20), the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach cannot implement their truck concession plans, at least for now. The Agriculture Transportation Coalition (AgTC) reports that the ruling does not affect the ports’ clean truck program ban on older trucks, its mandate on new lower-emission trucks or its container fee to subsidize the purchase of those newer, cleaner trucks. The court challenge by the American Trucking Association concerned the concession plans under which the ports select specific trucking companies permitted to operate in and out of the marine terminals. For more details, see the AgTC’s latest bulletin online.
