100 Percent Inspections Today on Mexican Border

100 Percent Inspections Today on Mexican Border

USMEF has learned that Mexico has begun conducting inspections at points of entry on 100 percent of U.S. meat shipments today. Similar action in the past caused delays because of the extra time needed to inspect all shipments and because more rejections occurred. Mexican authorities delist establishments with two rejections.

The inspection criteria used by Mexico’s OISA inspectors can be read online. Although there have been no reports of rejections or delistings so far, USMEF cautions members to ensure all products are in compliance with the inspection criteria and the requirements for Mexico in the online FSIS Export Library, which includes parameters for filling out documents and labels.

In the event of any problems, rejections or delisting, please contact USMEF for help working through the corrective action process. Members with questions or comments should contact Courtney Heller at 303-623-6328 or cheller@usmef.org.
