Commodity Classic saw record attendance in San Antonio last week with more than 12,000 attendees representing the corn, soybean, wheat and sorghum industries. The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) has been a longtime participant in the event’s trade show and had an expanded presence in 2025 and 2026. That expansion was to showcase the innovative cuts and recipes USMEF promotes around the globe and to thank the corn and soybean producers who support export efforts, according to USMEF President and CEO Dan Halstrom.
The centerpiece of the USMEF booth at Commodity Classic was a meat truck from Mexico which is used in cooking demonstrations and product tasting at retail outlets across the country. Product samples were offered ranging from a Caribbean strip loin to pork Boston butt meatballs.
USMEF Chair-elect Dave Bruntz, a corn and soybean producer and cattle feeder from Nebraska, says Commodity Classic allowed him to answer questions about exports from fellow farmers and ranchers, including why exports are important during a time of tight cattle supplies.
