While the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026, the organization’s Mexico office is celebrating 35 years of promoting U.S. beef, pork and lamb.
Gerardo Rodriguez, USMEF’s regional director for Mexico, Central America and the Dominican Republic, says the 35th anniversary celebration brought together longtime USMEF Mexico staff members with Mexican importers and meat industry leaders to celebrate a partnership that has grown over decades.
Mexico is the leading destination for U.S. pork with more than $1.5 billion in sales through July of this year and the number three market for beef at $782 million. But Rodriguez expects continued growth, as the market has become less price-driven and more focused on quality.
