The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) is conducting a U.S. Red Meat Symposium, April 14-17 in Mexico City, which will allow U.S. exporters to meet face-to-face with importers and other prospective customers from throughout Mexico. This is the second edition of the symposium, with the first being held in the summer of 2024. The event is made possible through support from USDA, the National Pork Board, the Beef Checkoff Program and the Nebraska Beef Council.
Gerardo Rodriguez, USMEF regional director for Mexico and Central America, explains that the inaugural symposium was created so that USMEF could match exporters with the best prospects for expanding their business in Mexico. Feedback from the 2024 event was extremely positive, as both exporters and buyers felt it offered a more valuable experience than traditional trade shows. Rodriguez expects this year’s symposium to deliver even greater returns.
A delegation of U.S. producers and other industry leaders will also participate in the symposium and tour retail outlets in Mexico City, to see firsthand how U.S. red meat is merchandised and promoted in this critical market.
NOTE: USMEF Chair Jay Theiler, of Boise, Idaho-based Agri Beef, will lead a delegation of 18 producers and other industry leaders from the National Pork Board, the Colorado Pork Producers Council, the Illinois Pork Producers Association, the Iowa Corn Growers Association, the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council, the Montana Beef Council, the Nebraska Beef Council, the Nebraska Corn Board, the Nebraska Pork Producers Association, the North Dakota Beef Commission, the Oregon Beef Council and the Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council.
