The new chair of the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) is Pat Binger of Wichita, Kan., who leads international meat sales for Cargill Protein North America. Binger succeeds Idaho cattle feeder Cevin Jones, who chaired the organization over the past year.

Raised on a diversified farm in northeastern South Dakota and a graduate of Northern State University, Binger joined Cargill subsidiary Excel Corporation in 1987 and first became deeply involved in international marketing in 1991. He says that while 2021 will be a challenging year for the red meat industry due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19, he is optimistic about the prospects for further export growth.

Binger began his term as USMEF chair at the conclusion of the USMEF Strategic Planning Conference, which was held virtually Nov. 10-13. More details about the conference are available from the USMEF website.
